I recently arrived in Canada with 15 years of experience as a dietitian in India. I was prepared to relearn certain concepts to continue in the field, but I didn’t expect to go to university all over again. However, even though the principles of nutrition remain the same across cultures, the way you communicate and apply the knowledge is different. The Internationally Educated Dietitians Pre-registration Program provided enlightenment and enrichment, with new perspectives from the mentors’ unique bodies of expertise, relevant course materials and practical tasks, group work, active discussions, and placements. Instructors also helped with job applications. The program not only helped me fit into my profession, but helped me stand out.

Ryerson University’s G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education is proud to offer the Internationally Educated Dietitians Pre-registration Program (IDPP).
This unique learning opportunity has been designed to give internationally educated food and nutrition professionals information, advice, referral to career opportunities, language testing and training, and, for those who are qualified, preparation for registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario (CDO) and Dietitians of Canada (DC).
The IDPP features two main services:
- A Pre-registration program designed to help internationally educated dietitians prepare for registration and practice in Ontario. (See Program Outline.)
- Assessment and counselling for internationally educated food and nutrition professionals who are exploring their education and work options.

Program Funding
The IDPP is funded by the Government of Ontario. Ontario receives support for some skills training programs from the Government of Canada.
