Magazine and Web Publishing
- planning a career in web publishing or the magazine industry?
- working at a magazine or website and looking to hone your skills or broaden your industry knowledge?
- looking for affordable, flexible professional development for your staff?
- thinking of starting up your own magazine or website?
Ryerson University’s G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education has what you’re looking for.
Our Magazine and Web Publishing program offers training in all aspects of this exciting field: publishing and management, editing, copy editing and fact-checking, writing, design and production, advertising sales and circulation, website content, and desktop publishing software.
Because our experienced instructors are actively involved in the creation and publication of magazines (Canadian Living, Toronto Life, Chatelaine, CA, and others), they are an important pipeline to what’s going on in the business. You’ll also find your peers a valuable resource, as you share your goals, problems, and contacts.
Many of our instructors operate their courses, or portions of them, as hands-on working sessions (e.g., editorial story meetings, coverline-writing sessions, graphics brainstorming, or newsstand objectives). Our courses are rooted in practical experience.
Courses and Certification
You may take one or more courses or pursue the Certificate in Magazine and Web Publishing. Some students treat the certificate as a full-time program and complete the requirements in one academic year, while those with full- or part-time jobs can study at the pace that suits them best.
Recognized by Magazines Canada, our Certificate in Magazine and Web Publishing can give you the edge you need to get ahead in the challenging and competitive magazine industry.
