PANELISTS:

Brenda AndersonBrenda Anderson
Graduate, Certificate in Business Communications

Brenda Anderson was interested in strengthening her future career potential. Her employer at the time recommended The Chang School and she did extensive research to find the right program for her. After attending an Open House and speaking with ServiceHub staff, she enrolled in the Certificate in Business Communications. Even though she was nervous about returning to school, Brenda found that her instructors and classmates were remarkable. The certificate program has prepared her for an industry that is fast-paced and competitive, so Brenda feels confident and prepared for the future.

Kat GoKat Go
Graduate, Certificate in Public Relations (Intensive)

After earning a Bachelor of Arts in English Studies from Ryerson University, Kat Go went on to the Bachelor of Education program to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher. However, she came to realize that this career path was no longer for her and decided to revisit her interest in working in the field of Public Relations. After researching various certificate programs, she chose The Chang School's Public Relations Intensive option. The consolidated program allowed Kat to receive her certificate in three months and be ready to enter the industry just in time for fall internships. In addition, the close-knit feel of smaller class sizes and dedicated Chang School instructors were exactly what she needed to make meaningful connections and regain her confidence as a learner and future PR practitioner. Following her graduation from the program, Kat went on to complete a competitive internship at a full-service communications agency in Toronto, and is currently working full-time in the industry, specializing in digital marketing and social media.

Chris MunroChris Munro
Graduate, Spanning the Gaps – Access to Post-Secondary Education

Chris Munro began his academic journey in the Spanning the Gaps – Access to Post-Secondary Education program at The Chang School after careers in both the Canadian military and the trades. With a grade nine education, The Chang School facilitated and supported Chris’ academic upgrade from a Grade 9 education through an undergraduate degree in social work and entrance into Ryerson’s Masters of Social Work program. Chris has returned to The Chang School both as a learning facilitator and a program author. His program is designed to assist veterans in returning to school and a byproduct of his initiative is the creation of a veteran-inclusive, supportive environment at Ryerson. Chris has come full circle – from student to staff member – and The Chang School has made it all possible.
