Third- or Fourth-Year Placement – Workplace Option

Starting in September 2013, students will have the opportunity to complete their third or fourth year placement in their workplace setting, provided they meet the following criteria:

  • They must be working in an early childhood education/education setting for at least 12 months in a full-time position
  • They must be a registered ECE (RECE)
  • They must have CLEAR academic standing
  • The required project and tasks must be different from the student’s regular job description and responsibilities
  • The workplace setting must be approved by the Field Education Coordinator

The workplace option presents student with the opportunity to further their development as professionals in the following areas:

  • Personal knowledge and theory in early childhood education to determine and implement an appropriate project
  • Knowledge of the community in which the placement site is situated and the strengths of the community
  • Reflective, critical, and analytical thinking
  • Leadership within the placement site
  • Active participation in his or her own learning
  • Professionalism at all times
