Eyes on the World – Silver Screens Arts Festival 2010
May 31– June 6, 2010
Silver Screens Arts Festival is an annual week-long celebration of connection, engagement, and learning. The theme of this year’s event is Eyes on the World.
Silver Screens Arts Festival grew out of a weekend film festival started by Programs for 50+ at Ryerson University’s G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education to challenge the image of aging as seen through film.
In partnership with the LIFE Institute, the Festival continues to challenge the image of aging not only through film, but through all aspects of society today.
The Silver Screens Arts Festival is a showcase of liberal arts education that demonstrates the continued vitality, vibrancy, and value of adults 50+ to society. The Festival provides an opportunity to stimulate the mind, renew the human spirit, and value the arts.
Last year’s Festival showcased the continued and expanded creativity of adults 50+ through theatre, art, and creative works. Films and speakers pointed out that later life is a bountiful time for living and expressing oneself. Over 1600 registrants attended lectures, workshops, theatre presentations, and films that demonstrated continued and expanded creativity in later life.
