This course explores the story of the Cold War, a conflict that dominated international relations for much of the postwar period. Topics include the emergence of the United States and Soviet Union as superpowers, the division of Europe after 1945, the creation of Cold War alliances, decolonization, superpower conflict by proxy, the rise of regional powers, the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the legacy of the conflict for the 21st century. (Upper-level liberal studies elective)
