Caring Clown is a unique, hands-on program offered through Programs 50+, at the G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education, Ryerson University. The program trains older adult volunteers to bring cheer to residents in long-term care homes.

Each year, the Caring Clown program raises money for the program by participating in the Toronto Challenge as Team Caring Clown. The Toronto Challenge is an annual fundraising event organized by Toronto Long-Term Care Homes & Services to raise money for community agencies that improve the quality of life for older adults with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

Show your support for the Caring Clown program by registering to walk or run with Team Caring Clown in the Toronto Challenge.

What are Caring Clowns?

Since 2009, Programs for 50+ at Ryerson University’s G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education has provided training and practice for Caring Clowns. In this unique hands-on program, older adult students learn clowning techniques to volunteer in long-term care facilities for older adults with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
