2013 Sloan-C Special Recognition for Pedagogical Innovation Award

The Chang School’s Certificate in Food Security received The 2013 Sloan-C Special Recognition for Pedagogical Innovation Award. Congratulations to Food Security Academic Coordinator Reg Noble, as well as the Ryerson University’s School of Nutrition, Centre for Studies in Food Security, and The Chang School’s Community Services program area. The Sloan Consortium (Sloan-C) helps learning organizations to continually improve the quality, scale, and breadth of their online programs according to their own distinctive missions, so that education will become a part of everyday life, accessible and affordable for anyone, anywhere, at any time, in a wide variety of disciplines. Sloan-C supports the collaborative sharing of knowledge and effective practices to improve online education in learning effectiveness, access, affordability for learners and providers, and student and faculty satisfaction.

2013 CAUCE Award of Excellence for Credit Programming Under 48 Hours

The Chang School’s Certificate in Food Security was given an Award of Excellence for Credit Programming under 48 hours at the annual Canadian Association of University Continuing Education (CAUCE) conference in Montreal in May 2013. Congratulations to Food Security Academic Coordinator Reg Noble, as well as the School of Nutrition, Centre for Studies in Food Security, and The Chang School’s Community Services program area. The Certificate in Food Security is delivered entirely at a distance and includes components of research and practice across local, national, and international communities. Topics focus on hunger and poverty, food policy and programs, community development, urban food security, urban agriculture and global nutrition. The instructional team includes internationally recognized leaders in the field who have lived and worked around the globe and understand the challenges of implementing food security both in Canada and the developing world.
